Federation of Cossack National Games Sherimitsy organizing committee held their first meeting for the preparation of the 2015 Sherimitsy games.

February 12th, 2015 in Aksai Rostov Region, in the Stanitsa Aksai Cherkassy County of the Don Cossacks, was held the first meeting of the organizing committee on the preparation for the Cossack National games “Sherimitsy 2015” dedicated to Saint George day. Together the representatives of the Cossack communities of Aksai Rostov, Aksay, and Starocherkask Yurtov, identified a number of priorities issues related to the organization of the 2015 Sherimitsy, set goals and objectives, and planned a joint action plan.

The organizing committee established to host the games on May 2nd, 2015 on the territory of the Monastery Chapel Tracts nears Stanitsa Starocherkasskaya, and promises the games to be a large and bright event for the Don Cossack People.
For the first time in the history of the Sherimitsy games, an icon of Saint George the Victorious will be brought to the games. The icon, with the inscription from the Cossacks, was presented in 1914, to an old church by a group of Cossacks from the Stanitsa Elizabeth and has be preserved in the church ever since. In the years of the Soviet Union, the Cossacks of the church managed to defend it, and prevent it from complete destruction. For the Cossacks, this icon is sacred, and will connect generations of Cossacks together. All guests and participants will be able to venerate the icon throughout the days of the Sherimitsy.

In addition, on the day of the Sherimitsy there will be a dedicated scientific practical conference in regards to the controversial military traditions and culture of the Cossacks. This conference will feature guests, scientists, historians, archaeologists, ethnographers, and sociologists, from various universities. There will also be an organized exhibition of a museum which will include Cossack weapons from private collections and thematic information stands.

The organizing committee agreed to hold their next meeting on February 18th in the city of Rostov on Don
